About Me….

With a PhD focusing on Public Finance Management and extensive experience at the intersection of public finance, political economy, and development practice, I have dedicated my career to understanding the systems that shape outcomes in Malawi and across Sub-Saharan Africa. My work has ranged from auditing public systems to managing financial oversight for major development initiatives, allowing me to witness firsthand how policy decisions are made and how resources are allocated. This practical insight has fueled my conviction that many critical development conversations suffer from being overly technical, politicised, or fragmented, hindering meaningful public understanding and reform.

In light of the pressing challenges we face today, including fiscal pressures, governance issues, and climate shocks, I believe there is an urgent need to bridge the gap between theory and practice in development discourse. This platform aims to interrogate the political economy behind policy choices, making discussions around public finance and development more accessible yet rigorous. It serves not just as a newsletter but also as a community for serious thinkers and practitioners committed to exploring complex issues in public finance, agriculture, infrastructure, and investment.

This space fosters clarity, accountability, and insight. Here, I provide evidence-based analyses, challenge conventional narratives, and offer practical perspectives grounded in real-world experience. By attracting finance professionals, economists, political scholars, and practitioners from various sectors, we have created a community bound not by ideology but by our shared commitment to evidence-based thinking, intellectual honesty, and constructive debate. I welcome engagement and dialogue, encouraging thoughtful discussions grounded in substance and aimed at finding practical solutions to the challenges we face.
